We are delighted to have been awarded the contract supporting those in receipt of Direct Payments in Solihull. We already provide similar services in 19 regions across England and are passionate about the importance of delivering effective direct payments services to ensure that those in receipt of this much-needed support can maximise their independence.
A direct payment is where local authorities and/or health commissioners give assessed care funding as a cash payment to people in need of support, rather than directly provided social care services. Direct Payments give people a greater control over their lives and how their care is delivered by promoting independence, choice and inclusion
We are looking forward to working with Solihull Council and their partners to ensure the provision of the best possible service to Direct Payment recipients in Solihull, supporting them through our payroll and managed account services. This vital service ensures that personal assistants employed by recipients have access to a responsive payroll service, leaving direct payment recipients to focus on living independently in their community. Our managed account services offer support to those who might require some additional support to manage their Direct Payment monies.
PeoplePlus will now be part of Solihull’s new community wellbeing services. This is a broader partnership of voluntary and community organisations working together to improve the lives of Solihull residents. The new approach will promote self-care and independence; make it easier for people to find information and advice, as well as providing specialist support for those who need it
Sally Bond, Director for Health, Wellbeing and Social Care for PeoplePlus said, “We see Direct Payments as the best route to empower individuals to choose how they live their lives and to improve their independence. We are honored and excited to be playing a part of Solihull’s social services community from April 2019”
