The award is a credit to Sam’s 23 years of dedication working within the welfare to work sector.

We are thrilled to announce that our own Sam Price, Lead Enterprise Advisor for the North West, has won the Advisor of the Year Award during last night’s ERSA Award Ceremony in London.

The Employment Related Services Association (ERSA) is the sector body for organisations delivering, or with an interest in, employment related services – sometimes called welfare to work.

The annual awards aim to celebrate and champion the people and organisations working to tackle joblessness in the UK. This year’s ceremony took place last night in London at the prestigious Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).

The award is a credit to Sam’s 23 years of dedication working within the welfare to work sector. During this time, he has committed his career to helping unemployed jobseekers find theirs leading by example and becoming a highly respected member of the PeoplePlus staff. He has recently celebrated his 400th business start-up under the Work Programme. Over the course of his career he has supported an estimated 4,000 individual’s to start their own business, enabling them to take responsibility for changing their lives and creating a future of their making.

One of the people that Sam helped to create their own business is Kerry from Bolton who now runs her own children’s party business, and wrote to Sam to thanking him for his support, saying: “You really helped us and genuinely wanted us to succeed and gave us the confidence and belief that we needed. We can’t thank you enough. We have also made a friend as well and an advisor”.

Sam’s passion for enterprise extends to his free time as well where he mentors school aged kids in the North West Young Entrepreneur Programme and acts as mentor to other entrepreneurs who are unable to access these services through their existing Work Programme providers. One of the people he helped on their journey to self-employment was Julie from Darnhill who now runs a cleaning business.

“Although I wasn’t a PeoplePlus client, I was delighted when Sam agreed to help me set up my own business. As I was very concerned doing it on my own, Sam put me totally at ease. I feel confident about being in business. As Sam worked full time for PeoplePlus, he took time out to visit me at evenings and weekends. I have now been running the business for 18 months. The business has regular customers. I am now in a far better place and can cope with many situations had Sam not have helped me, I feel I could not have done it on my own, he’s very approachable and continues to support me as and when I need it”.
