Royce went on to study no less than three different courses, including Hospitality, Customer Services, Health and Safety, hoping to expand his knowledge and ultimately gain qualifications that will help him get a stable job and kick off his career. Despite his efforts, none of these courses gave Royce enough direction towards finding a suitable role.
Once referred to us on the Work Programme, Royce’s wait to find a sustainable job was going to come to an end very soon. Royce was on the programme for a month, during which time his Job Coach, Shanade, helped him with his job search and to build his confidence as he had expressed he wasn't particularly keen on interviews. Pierre, the branch Business Manager, saw Royce's potential and didn't hesitate in putting him forward for an Admin Apprentice role in our Westminster branch.
Royce joined our Westminster team as an Admin Apprentice in September 2014 and he’s never looked back. Royce is positive about his future and is hoping to secure a permanent job with us:
"I feel settled and confident here and I have a great team which I'd like to be a part of in the future."
As an Admin Apprentice, Royce plays a huge part in the business, being the face of our Westminster branch. He supports the Business Manager and wider team with admin work including phone, post, appointments, whilst consistently delivering good service to our customers, colleagues and partners.
Helena, Business Manager, comments on his role in the Westminster team:
"Royce is a breath of fresh air! Since joining PeoplePlus, Royce has grown within the industry and as a person. Royce has brought his own experience and put a positive spin to this – this is a great example to share with our customers."
Asked what the main benefit of the apprenticeship is to him and his experience, Royce quickly answers: "It's good to know I got a job for a year, gives me a sense of stability".
