From Margate to Manchester, Romford and Redcar, we’re organising activities such as jobs fairs – matching jobseekers on the Work Programme to employers with hundreds of live vacancies and apprenticeship opportunities - and showcasing some of the fantastic businesses our enterprise customers have set up.
Many of our customers will be on hand to describe their own experiences of the programme and finding work, and there will be a chance for people to meet advisors from the Money Advice Service, join skills training and health and wellbeing sessions and chat to some of the specialist health organisations we work with.
Jobseekers will also be able to check out a new web-based training platform called Learning Plus, one of the ways we are helping our customers gain skills and qualifications to work in industries as wide-ranging as food production, manufacturing, hospitality and care.
In Romford, where we deliver the Government’s Work Programme, jobseekers who have achieved new qualifications will be receiving their certificates in an awards ceremony; our Crewe team is organising sessions for people interested in setting up their own businesses, and in Manchester, employers coming along to a jobs fair include Timpson, McDonalds and care companies looking for staff to work in residential nursing homes.
UK Employability Day is an event for the whole employment support sector, and it’s our chance to show local stakeholders, agencies and businesses what employment support means at the frontline and the impact it is having in the local area.
