Functional Skills Level 2

Level 2 is the highest qualification in Functional Skills you can obtain and is equivalent to a level 4 at GCSE. Here are the skills that you can expect your learners to be able to demonstrate upon completion of a Level 2 Functional Skills qualification:

Functional Skills English Level 2

Achieving a Functional Skills English Level 2 qualification means a learner will be able to:

  • Demonstrate the ability to listen to and understand information in straightforward and more technical contexts, such as abstract ideas and detailed explanations and presentations.
  • Read and understand the reasons how and why a text is presented, including an understanding of bias, inferred meaning and the influence of the writer
  • Communicate in verbal or written form in response to different situations, clearly and coherently, being aware of the use of different registers, textual, linguistic and organisational features

Functional Skills maths Level 2

Similar to Level 1, Functional Skills maths Level 2 is broken down into a non-calculator section and a calculator section. Upon completion of this qualification, a learner will be able to:

  • Build upon their existing maths knowledge
  • Develop new skills such as budgeting and financial planning
