Skills Support for the Unemployed

Skills Support for the Unemployed (SSU) supports school leavers, people who are unemployed and jobseekers gain skills and qualifications, as well as providing local employers with a talented pool of people ready for employment across the Greater Lincolnshire region. We support progression in Boston, Cleethorpes, Gainsborough, Grantham, Grimsby, Louth, Lincoln, Scunthorpe, Spalding, Stamford, Sleaford, Skegness and Mablethorpe.

PeoplePlus works in partnership with the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) to provide skills training, as well as running vocationally-relevant courses targeting specific industry areas of improvement. The overall focus is to help support growth and boost the wider, regional economy in Greater Lincolnshire.

PeoplePlus is the largest provider of Skills Support for the unemployed with 47% of the market, and we are one of the largest providers of Adult Education Budget funded training.

So far, we’ve supported over 500,000 people since 2018 with the challenges they’ve faced in finding work and have found employment for nearly 200,000 people across the UK. We have great local and national links with organisations such as Amazon, DHL, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, National Express, Hermes, Boohoo and Missguided.

Our courses are delivered as ‘Pathways’ based on a specific area of employment. We believe a pathway including a number of training elements and qualifications really gives an individual in depth knowledge to prepare them fully for available job roles.

On pathway completion we can offer guaranteed interviews with local employers including; Cordant Security, Ibwest Security, Staffline Vacancies, East Marsh Construction & ERA Employment.

For Learners

Our tailored support is delivered in a classroom setting in one of our academies, at an employer’s premises, community ‘pop-up’ or incredibly popular now is the studying from home option with online and live learning events. Our success rates are higher than the national average at 93% and we pride ourselves on delivering a great learning experience.

Our job is to support you to prepare for A job, a Better job and a Career. To do this we have packaged our training to specific sectors to give you the best chance of success whether you are looking to change your direction, explore new opportunities, understand a different sector or looking to get back into work – we have designed our courses in line with priority job sectors and job vacancies.

Our Skills Support for the Unemployed and Adult Education Budget funded programmes are co-financed by the Education and Skills Funding Agency and the European Social Fund. This enables us to provide fully funded courses for unemployed people (or people on a low income) and provide businesses with a talented pool of individuals.
