Residents at HMP Drake Hall expressed their delight with the recent Careers Conference in Custody event which offered speed networking with a range of employers offering Release of Temporary License and jobs to those being released.
The event facilitated by PeoplePlus and supported by PeoplePlus provider Skill Cert, HMP Drake Hall staff and the umbrella body for the sector EU Skills, offered an opportunity for the 38 ladies attending to showcase their skills and get advice and support on how they could access the sector.
The event hosted a variety of employers within the sector including Comensura, Amey, Veolia, Blue Arrow, Morrison Utility Services, Mitie. Ground Control Key note speaker Hoa Ngo, Managing Director of Comensura, talked to the ladies about women in business, employment opportunities on release and achieving against adversity.
One resident said “ “It has been very useful and has made me feel a lot more positive and motivated about leaving prison and getting straight back into employment.”
100% of the residents surveyed said they found the event to be excellent, good or very good and that they really appreciated the opportunities on offer.
