The Carer’s Hub in Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire have reached the milestone of supporting 10,000 Carers! The service started in October 2015 when awareness around unpaid carers was extremely low. Over the years the team have work tirelessly to promote the service so they could help as many carers as possible. Back then reaching 10,000 carers seemed like a distant dream, but today we’ve done it!
A carer is ‘someone of any age who provides unpaid support to family or friends who could not manage without this help’. This could be caring for a relative, partner, a child or friend who is ill, frail, disabled or has mental health or substance misuse problems.
The Carer’s Hub team work with adult carers and young carers from 5 years old. The service has been through 2 successful contract extensions, which highlights just how valuable the support they provide to carers is. Samantha Walker, Operations Manager comments: “I am extremely proud of the team; their dedication, passion and commitment to carers is so inspiring and I know they are making a real difference to the lives of carers.”
