PeoplePlus Scotland, on behalf of the Scottish Government, have proudly delivered the Fair Start Scotland programme since April 2018. We are delighted to announce that the contract has been extended until March 2023.
Employability support is pivotal in supporting Scotland’s economic recovery as it supports those most at risk from the adverse economic, health and social impacts of the COVID-19 crisis.
In July 2020, Jamie Hepburn MSP, Minister for Business, Fair Work and Skills announced a two year extension to Fair Start Scotland delivery, to the end of March 2023. This will ensure that there is sufficient support in place for those who need it most, while preparation continues for further implementation of “No One Left Behind”, the Scottish Government’s approach to ensuring employability support is inclusive, effective and responsive to the needs of individuals and local labour markets.
Fair Start Scotland is a voluntary programme that is available to help people in Scotland to gain employment. The programme is designed to help break down barriers that people may be facing. These include:
• Having a disability or additional support needs
• Having a health condition
• Having caring responsibilities
• Being a single parent
• Being unemployed for a long time
• Being a care leaver
• Being from a minority ethnic community
• Being a person with a conviction
