Prince’s Trust Partnership Launch.
Today PeoplePlus officially launched our partnership with the Prince’s Trust charity. We chose to support the Prince’s Trust as we believe they are aligned to our mission to help people transform their lives through their work with young people.
The Prince’s Trust champion young people, providing practical and financial support needed to stabilise lives. It believes that every young person should have the chance to achieve their potential, regardless of the boundaries they may face. Today there are still 843,000 young people in the UK who are not in jobs, education or training. They may be homeless, battling mental health problems, have become caught up in the criminal justice system or lost hope for the future after a long stretch of unemployment. We want to support these young people and working with the Prince’s Trust is a fantastic way to help those at risk.
To launch our partnership, members of the PeoplePlus team met to discuss the need for this collaboration and how it can benefit both organisations. We were joined by Olida our Prince’s Trust Account Manager and Sophie Rodgers, a Young Ambassador from the Prince’s Trust. Sophie told us that before she got involved with the Prince’s Trust, she was having a very hard time as she had just been diagnosed with cervical cancer. She was unsure what the future would hold but through the help and support of the Prince’s Trust; she was able to receive a business mentor and some real guidance in order to start her own business. She is now the proud owner of High Vibe Designs and says “I owe so much to the Prince’s Trust and everyone there is genuinely the loveliest people I have worked with. They have helped me so much to achieve my own business, and the business mentor I was given was fantastic. He still pops into my shop every now and then to check up on me.”
Speaking about the impact PeoplePlus will have working with the Prince’s Trust, Managing Director Simon Rouse said “The Prince’s Trust are perfectly aligned with our mission to make a direct difference to the lives of 1 million people by 2022. The Prince’s Trust support the lives of young people, giving them the best opportunity to succeed.”
PeoplePlus are setting up a number of initiatives to support the Prince’s Trust in order to raise at least £30,000 for them over the next 12 months. Firstly, our employees have the option to take part in the ‘Pennies from Heaven’ scheme, where the pennies from our salary are donated. We are also encouraging employees to take part in, the ‘Future Steps’ challenge. This initiative aims to help our colleagues get fit, have fun and raise funds. In teams of 6, we are each going to walk a minimum of 10,000 steps a day to raise £250 per team throughout February.
