In support of reaching our mission to help 1 million people by 2022, PeoplePlus hosted a round table discussion at The House of Lords. The round table talked about the Government’s Civil Society strategy and how businesses, third sector and Government can come together to build a fairer society through skills and employment.
We had a number of Parliamentarians, businesses and third sector organisations as well as representatives from the media around the table including: The Co-op, ITV, CBI, Social Mobility Partnership, Richard Harrington MP, Bim Afolami MP, Gillian Keegan MP and Baroness Jenkin in attendance.
A year on from Government launching the Civil Society Strategy in 2018 to set out how it would support civil society to build a country that works for everyone, the discussion considered what it has achieved to date; some of the challenges that may have limited organisations’ ability to engage in the process and how these can be overcome; and what can be done by businesses, charities and the wider population to achieve the Strategy’s objectives.
