Fair Start Scotland is about finding the right jobs for the right people at the right time. This is achieved by adopting a more personalised approach to our service delivery as no two participants journey is the same. Participation is voluntary, and the support continues for up to 12 months after the participant has progressed into employment. A person’s benefits cannot be sanctioned if they decide the service is not right for them. PeoplePlus deliver the Fair Start Scotland programme in both Glasgow, and the Highlands & Islands.
We receive regular feedback on the programme and we wanted to share this with you…
“Being a young mum to 3 my life was limited, I was out of work for over ten years. I tried so many places with no luck. I was feeling down, depressed and disheartened, worried that I would never get the chance to show my value in the workplace. That was until I found #FairStartScotland. I was still feeling unconfident and lost hope, but I was welcomed and the people here were the light I needed. They gave me hope and worked with me, not only with work but with me as an individual. My confidence grew, my light came back, and all because they gave me the tools to build myself with so much extra support. They believed in me when I couldn’t. I now have a job.”

William is 52 years old and was made redundant from his last role which he had had for 20 years. He felt lost and struggled looking for work. He was not hearing back from employers, nor being invited to interviews. When William joined #FairStartScotland, his key worker worked with him to create a new CV, helped him with his job search methods, and provided him with application templates for when he applied for a role.
“The support I have received from PeoplePlus has been fantastic from my first appointment. I left to go home that day and for the first time in a while I felt hope. It felt good knowing I was going to get the support I needed to find a job.” “I don’t know if I would have been successful in gaining these interviews without the help and support from my key worker.”

We are delighted for William and wish him all the luck in the future.
“With being unemployed for 5 years I joined PeoplePlus through the job centre. PeoplePlus helped me greatly with updating my cv and giving me advice on how to fill out application forms etc and how to carry out interviews. I believe without PeoplePlus I would not be starting a new job as a medical receptionist at Springburn Health Centre which I am delighted about. I was offered 5 interviews which has been helped by PeoplePlus.”
