Hire a young person for free with Kickstart

The government’s Kickstart scheme helps young people into six-month paid jobs – and employers don’t have to pay a penny.

In fact, the government also gives employers £1,500 per person they take on to help with training and setup costs.

We’re helping employers to find the right candidates to hire and support them with their training needs so they’re ready to hit the ground running.

Who’s eligible?

Young people aged 16-24 who are unemployed and claiming Universal Credit.

What’s the job criteria?

Jobs must be for a minimum of 25 hours a week and last six months.

The government will pay up to the National Minimum Wage, but employers can top this up. The government will even pay National Insurance contributions.

Employers must help the young person become more employable, through things like developing their skills, helping them look for long-term work and providing careers advice.

How can PeoplePlus help?

We are able to help you to manage any aspect of your Kickstart journey – before the candidate starts, during the placement and even afterwards.

A key element of the Kickstart programme is to develop people’s employability and personal development skills. As one of Britain’s leading training providers, we’re well-placed to pick up all your skills needs.

Our services will help you:

What’s the catch?

There isn’t one. The Kickstart scheme is part of the government’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic, making sure young people aren’t left behind.
