Discover what it's like to work in our Justice division
Our Justice division is the largest across PeoplePlus. Around 600 colleagues work here at prisons, predominantly in the East and Middle of England. We run the 'Prison Education Framework' contract in 22 prisons, as well as IAG contracts in 14, Library contracts and education in Secure Hospitals. We also run 'WayOutTV' in 70 prisons which enables prisoners to learn in their cells. We work with some of the most vulnerable people in society to help them transform their lives and plan for their release.

This division is lead by Divisional Managing Director Emma Yorke, who has worked in senior roles in the education and training sector for over 20 years and has a particular passion for supporting adult learners who are looking for a “second chance” into learning. Emma is supported by her Leadership Team of Directors, Operations Managers and Education Managers to run a successful and high performing division.
Typical roles we employ in this division include:
- Tutors - these colleagues teach sector specific training, English and Maths to prisoners
- Reading and Neurodiversity Specialists - these colleagues work across our prisons to work with prisoners who are neurodivergent or have low levels of literacy.
- Education Managers - are responsible for the smooth delivery and effective day to day running of the education department in each prison.
We employ people from a huge variety of backgrounds to work in our prisons. Some people have experience of working in a prison environment, whereas others have never been in a prison before, but have a teaching background. We also employ people who have no teaching background, but who have sector specific skills - such as plumbing or carpentry. We work with every colleague to make sure they have the support and training to do their job to a high standard. We have introduced a 'Training Academy' to make sure new colleagues get everything they need.
