Getting a Job

Working across Bradford, Kirklees, Calderdale and Wakefield our teams work in partnership with local employers and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority to provide relevant training linked to the local labour market.

The region has really strong manufacturing, healthcare, creative, retail, hospitality and warehousing industries.

We have great links with local and national employers like Amazon, Capita, G4S, Betfred, CareTech, Travelodge, Sigma, PoundStretcher, Minilies Construction, G4S, XPO and PSR – and after undertaking training with us, you could even land a guaranteed interview with them.

Available pathways

Construction

The aim of this course is to provide you with the knowledge and understanding of the knowledge required to work in the construction industry. If you successfully complete this course you will gain a nationally recognised qualification which is useful when applying for jobs. Particularly beneficial for you if you are 19+ and seeking employment and want to increase your knowledge to be compliant in the workplace. At PeoplePlus we will also fully fund your 5 year CSCS green card that is needed to work on a building site.

Customer Service

The Level 2 Award in Customer Service has been designed for people working in, or wishing to work in, customer service related roles. It provides the underpinning knowledge and understanding required for you to be able to start to perform in a customer service role effectively.

Employability

If you're looking to start work or to get a new job, this course will help you learn key skills for the working environment. This course will teach you all the basics that are necessary for any working environment and build your confidence and communication skills along the way. You will learn what sort of qualities employers are looking for, how to approach your first days in a new job, and how to work with colleagues and managers.

Our pathway will support you to develop key skills and qualifications in:

  • Develop and enhance skills required for the working environment
  • Develop learners’ confidence for employment and motivation
  • Improve communication skills and personal effectiveness
  • Provide a basis for further study
ESOL

You can improve your English speaking, reading and writing skills with PeoplePlus. You can start at different level which all lead to qualifications recognised by employers and training providers. We recognise that everyone is different, so we tailor our training programmes to meet individual needs.

Our pathway will support you to develop key skills and qualifications in:

  • Reading (Entry 1, 2 & 3, Level 1 & 2)
  • Speaking and Listening (Entry 1, 2 & 3, Level 1 & 2)
  • Writing (Entry 1, 2 & 3, Level 1 & 2)
Security

As the economy grows and more businesses sprout up, so does the need to secure those new companies. Security is a very popular career, with a range of different job possibilities.

We’ve developed this pathway to suit people who might want to work in environments like bars, restaurants, supermarkets, warehouses and reception areas as well as large scale spectator events like sports matches and concerts.

This course is your steppingstone to your new career and the SIA licence that you’ll need to work in the industry. We’ll even pick up the cost of your new licence, too.

Transport, Logistics and Warehousing

The aim of this course is to provide you with the knowledge and understanding of the basic principles of working in the transport and logistics sector.

Particularly beneficial for anyone (19+) who is seeking employment as a driver, warehouse operative or who wants to update their knowledge to be compliant in the workplace.

Individuals who successfully complete this course will gain a nationally recognised qualification which is essential for all working environments to comply with current legislation.

Our pathway will support you to develop key skills and qualifications in:

  • Team player and interpersonal skills
  • Employability skills
  • Analytical and numerical skills
  • Adaptability and accountability
  • Decision making skills
  • Handling difficult situations

Starting a Business

We also offer self-employment support for those wanting to start a business in West Yorkshire. The Startup West Yorkshire programme offers advice, training, workshops, webinars, and networking to all budding entrepreneurs in the region, run by our team of self-employment experts.
