Support into work or self-employment after justice involvement

Fresh Start helps people who have been involved with the justice system take their next step, whether that's starting a job or launching their own business. We deliver it in partnership with North Lanarkshire Council.

A fresh pathway to work or self-employment

We understand that everyone’s journey is different. That’s why Fresh Start offers a structured but flexible support model, tailored to each person’s needs. Working closely with justice-involved individuals, we provide one-to-one help from a dedicated Key Worker or Business Advisor, who will guide them towards sustainable employment or self-employment options.

This programme supports:

- People aged 16+, post school
- Living in North Lanarkshire
- With justice involvement

What support includes
Everyone's journey is different, so Fresh Start is structured but flexible. You'll work one to one with a dedicated key worker or business advisor, with up to 25 hours of personalised support. That can include:

• one-to-one coaching and help to overcome barriers to work
• an action plan built around your goals
• support into employment or self-employment
• workshops on business planning, marketing, social media and finance
• training in budgeting, bookkeeping and dealing with HMRC
• volunteering opportunities and help to build confidence and soft skills
• access to more than 400 online courses through LearningPlus
• referral to Business Gateway if you're starting a business
