Good News - Supporting Whitney Back into Work
Whitney joined the Restart Scheme after finding it difficult to return to work while balancing childcare responsibilities. She brought with her strong experience from the retail and hair and beauty sectors and was keen to use those transferable skills to re-enter the workforce after time spent raising her child.
With support from her Employment Advisor, Whitney updated her CV and began attending regular Job Club sessions at our Tonbridge office in Kent. These sessions helped her understand the current labour market, what employers are looking for, and how best to present her skills and experience.
Whitney was later introduced by one of our Employer Relationships Managers, Darren, to an opportunity with a major retail store opening in Tunbridge Wells. The role offered flexible working hours that worked around her childcare commitments and was well suited to her background.
Our Employer Relationships Manager supported Whitney throughout the application process, including interview preparation and an information session explaining the retailer’s expectations of successful candidates. Whitney also took part in mock retail-based interviews, which helped build her confidence and gave her a clearer understanding of the role.
Whitney has since secured the position and is settling well into her new role. Feedback from the employer has been very positive, and Whitney has spoken about the value of the practical guidance and support she received along the way.
“Thank you for all your help. Without your sessions and support, I would not have secured this job.”
