PeoplePlus to Deliver Skills and Employment Programmes at Newly Opened HMP Millsike

PeoplePlus is proud to be delivering education, skills and employment support at HMP Millsike, a brand-new 1,500-place category C resettlement prison in East Yorkshire which was officially opened yesterday (27 March) by the Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice, Shabana Mahmood.
Run by Mitie on behalf of His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service, Millsike is a modern, purpose-built site designed to support rehabilitation through access to education, training and employment from day one. The prison offers a positive regime focused on resettlement, with classrooms, industry workshops, a gym and tailored support to help individuals prepare for release.
At Millsike, PeoplePlus will provide a wide range of services to help men build a better future through learning and skills. This includes:
-
Accredited vocational training in areas like construction, catering, warehousing and digital.
-
Embedded English, maths and digital skills within all learning pathways.
-
In-prison work placements to build hands-on experience and confidence.
Partnerships with employers to bring strong links with businesses to facilitate job placements upon release
-
Careers advice, employability training and release-focused support.
-
Links to real employers offering meaningful opportunities after custody.
Our work at HMP Millsike builds on our national experience of delivering prison education and employment services. By aligning our programmes with employer demand and focusing on practical skills development, we aim to support the prison’s resettlement objectives and contribute to a more effective transition into work and training after release.
