Mitie Recognised as SRAG Ambassador
Mitie has been awarded the Ambassador-level Charter Mark by the Social Recruitment Advocacy Group (SRAG), recognising the organisation’s mature and evidence-based approach to inclusive hiring.
The award was presented at the SRAG Summit on 4 December, where Mollie Green, Head of the Mitie Foundation, and Helen Longfils, Group Director of Social Value, received the recognition on behalf of the business.
A Clear Commitment to Inclusive Hiring
Mitie’s operations span thousands of locations across the UK, with continuous recruitment needs across a wide range of roles. Inclusive hiring is therefore a practical and strategic priority for the business. Through its social value strategy - 'Plan Thrive', and the work of the Mitie Foundation, the organisation has strengthened pathways into employment for people who face barriers to work.
The SRAG assessment recognised this joined-up approach, reflecting the work taking place across Mitie’s teams, programmes and frontline services.
The Ambassador-level Charter Mark is the highest level of recognition within the 2025 SRAG framework. Achieving this standard reflects the strength and maturity of Mitie’s approach to inclusive recruitment and the evidence demonstrated through its assessment. Mitie now joins a small number of employers recognised at this level, including Sodexo UK+I, Birmingham Metropolitan College, and M Group Highways, the latter announced at the recent Summit hosted by M Group.
Reflecting on the achievement, Helen Longfils said “We are proud to be one of four organisations to achieve Ambassador status on the SRAG Charter Mark, reflecting our unwavering commitment to inclusivity and meaningful social impact. This milestone demonstrates the progress we have already made through our ‘Plan Thrive’ strategy and reinforces our ambitions to create opportunities that uplift lives and help communities thrive across the UK.”
A Framework for Continued Progress
The SRAG Charter Mark Framework supports employers to develop their practice over time, providing a structured approach to improving attraction, recruitment, onboarding and progression for individuals with diverse needs and circumstances. Participation in the SRAG offers employers a network for learning and collaboration, creating space to share practical insight and strengthen delivery across different sectors and settings.
To underline this milestone, PeoplePlus said “We are delighted to formally congratulate Mitie on being awarded SRAG Ambassador status. This recognition is a testament to the outstanding commitment, innovation, and depth of work demonstrated throughout Mitie's Charter Mark submission process.
We were particularly inspired by Project Thrive, which, although still relatively new, shows great promise for contributing Social Value to a multitude of beneficiaries.
We also want to acknowledge and thank Mitie for their continued support of the Justice Recruitment Advocacy Group (J-RAG) as we champion Social Recruitment for those who have experience of the Criminal Justice System together.”
Looking Ahead: Introducing the Patron Level
As the social value landscape continues to evolve and employer practice becomes more sophisticated, SRAG is introducing a new Patron level Charter Mark for 2026. This will provide a progression route for organisations whose strategies are developing beyond the Ambassador criteria and who are ready to take a wider, system-shaping role across the sector. Mitie has already indicated its intention to work towards this new level as its strategy continues to mature.
The Work Behind the Award
PeoplePlus and the SRAG are delighted to recognise Mitie’s achievement and the huge amount of practical work behind it.
The Ambassador-level recognition reflects the contribution of colleagues across Mitie:
- Teams delivering 'Plan Thrive' day to day
- The Mitie Foundation’s supported programmes
- Managers opening new routes into employment
- Frontline teams ensuring inclusive hiring values are lived across the organisation
Mitie’s approach shows how inclusive recruitment and social value can strengthen operational delivery while creating meaningful opportunities within communities. A more detailed conversation with the leaders behind this work - including Mollie Green and Helen Longfils - will follow in the new year.
