PeoplePlus in Scotland's Prisons

Today (1st August 2025) PeoplePlus starts delivering the Personal Development and Learning services contract for the Scottish Prison Service (SPS) in every prison across Scotland.
This contract allows us to build further on our extensive experience as a leading provider of education and employability services across the UK. PeoplePlus is the sole provider of core education within SPS establishments, which includes 14 Scottish Prisons and two Community Custody Units located across the country. Our work will support individuals in custody to improve their skills and education levels, enhance personal development, and prepare for meaningful employment upon release.
As the largest independent provider of prison education in England and with an established presence in Wales through our work with WayOutTV and Way2Learn, PeoplePlus now brings a wealth of expertise to the SPS. Additionally, our existing position as the largest and most successful provider of the Fair Start Scotland employability programme working with over 16,600 people will further assist us in delivering high-quality services tailored to the needs of SPS and those in its care.
Through our experience of delivering education, training, and employability services across the UK, we have developed a sector-leading model for creating employment opportunities and preparing prison leavers to enter employment or further training on release. Our approach focuses on providing practical skills for work and life in the community, while creating a respectful learning environment that helps individuals value their own learning, culture, and community. This includes vocational and higher education opportunities, development of essential skills such as English, maths, and digital literacy, and effective careers guidance to prepare individuals for their next steps
