When Dean was referred to the Restart scheme, he didn’t think much would come of it. Like a lot of people, he expected the same routine he’d seen elsewhere: five-minute chats, and very little real help.
But after one meeting with Lauren, his Employment Advisor, that expectation was flipped on its head.
Dean came to the Restart Scheme with a clear goal to get back into work as soon as possible. He had experience in construction as a general labourer, but after his last job ended through no fault of his own, he found himself out of work and unsure where to turn. Dean was upfront about his situation. A pending court case could put his driving licence at risk, so finding work locally, in a role that fit his skills, was a top priority.

Dean is now back in work, earning a wage, and planning his next steps. He’s clear on his long-term goal to return to groundworks once his license situation is sorted, but in the meantime, the Restart Scheme gave him exactly what he needed: quick action, real results, and a proper route back into work.
