PeoplePlus Co-Leads Inclusive Sustainable Enterprise Award at Wales Skills Competition
PeoplePlus were thrilled to Co-Lead in partnership with ACT the Wales Skills competition for the Inclusive Sustainable Enterprise Award with North Wales College heats in Newtown College on the 3rd Feb, moving on to the South Wales heats at Coleg Y Cymoedd on 10th Feb.
Skills Competition Wales raises the profile of skills by giving students, trainees, and apprentices the chance to test and improve their abilities through competition. Funded by the Welsh Government and delivered by a network of colleges, work-based learning providers, and employer-led organisations, the competitions align with WorldSkills standards and support the needs of the Welsh economy.
Competitions cover a wide range of sectors, from engineering and hospitality to digital technologies and health and social care. Competitors can develop industry-relevant skills, gain recognition for their achievements, and even progress to the UK nationals and the World Skills competition in Shanhai in September 2026
The Inclusive Sustainable Enterprise Competition helps young people with additional learning needs to develop workplace skills, entrepreneurial thinking, and an understanding of sustainability. Working in teams, participants upcycle an everyday item into a creative, marketable product using sustainable materials for decoration .The challenge encourages creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving while providing valuable experience in sustainable business practices - essential for future employment or self-employment.
The North Wales competitors all gave award winning presentations with innovative, sustainable products and viable business models, and will provide fierce competition for South Wales Heats next week. Well done to all young people and Colleges Involved.
Judges for this award include employer and business enterprise experts from Mitie, Wilson Training, Sacyr and PeoplePlus and the Wales Winners will be awarded on the 18th March. Good Luck to all competitors across all categories.
