G4S Secure Solutions UK join the Social Recruitment Advocacy Group

It is exciting to reflect on the progress the Social Recruitment Advocacy Group has made this year. Activity has gathered pace, and, as we enter the second half of the year, is set to speed up even more.
Contributing to this positive story are G4S Secure Solutions UK, who celebrated being SRAG pioneers by announcing their membership and their award of Silver Charter Mark status to teams on June 23. In a knowledge sharing event on Social Value and Equality, G4S management staff were provided an update on what has already been achieved, and how G4S will continue to build their impact in a session prepared by Paul Robbins, Head of Resourcing for G4S in the UK.
The SRAG Charter Mark scheme benchmarks challenging common goals – which makes achieving Silver status an inspiring message to share. Recruiting practices can amplify the social value of jobs and careers. Because business and the labour market never stand still - this work never stops. It is this dedicated approach to continuous improvement that drives the progress reflected in the Charter Mark scheme.
An element of G4S Secure Solutions UK social value generating activity that predated their SRAG work is the partnership they have with us, in which they work with the PeoplePlus Social Recruitment and Employer Engagement teams.
Partnerships and Social Value Solutions Director at PeoplePlus, Emma Grigson, says, ‘It is brilliant to see how proud Paul and the team at G4S are of the commitment they have made to recruiting from the widest talent pool possible - which has resulted in their commitment to the SRAG. Employers taking action, sharing ideas and experiences and committing to building a stronger pipeline of opportunities for individuals who face disadvantage in the labour market is imperative if we are to truly create equity in our society.”
The SRAG Year so Far
There have been two packed group meetings and networking lunches. The first introduced the SRAG Charter Mark scheme. In the second, Viki Carpenter of the Association of Accessible Employers delivered an immersive learning experience on Neurodiversity in the workplace.
In June, the Members Lunch and Learn session looked at how to help ex-offenders into work. Chris Leslie, a Director of EOS CIC, generously shared insights from his time in and beyond prison. His candid insight on sharing his history with prospective employers shifted perceptions – and generated ideas on practical adjustments that could make all the difference.
Action defines this group – enabling employers to enhance their social value generation while meeting the demands of the ever-changing labour market.
