Connor joined The Restart Scheme with fairly low expectations. He assumed it would be much like previous prgrammes he'd tried, and wasn't sure how much support he'd actually receive. His first appointment was with Employment Advisor, Hemang Patel, who took the time to understand Connor's goals, aspirations and the barriers standing in his way. Hemang enrolled him on several employability courses, helping him build his skills, confidence and readiness for work.

He joined the Fresh Start programme through a referral from an Engagement Officer at Airdrie Jobcentre, carrying previous convictions that had made finding work feel close to impossible. Like many people in his position, he had learned to expect little from previous support and wasn't sure how far this one would actually get him.

Barry came in for his initial meeting as part of The Restart Scheme, where he met his Advisor, Steffen Hallett. Barry explained that he'd had a stroke a few years earlier, which affected his speech and movement, and that he'd been unemployed for over a year, leaving him low on confidence and motivation.
